Cricket - October-December, 2012 ****Updated January 13, 2013****
Khye and Colt
Khye is again playing Milo cricket. They learn skills and play games. His coach is Roy, a very generous man who is 'Mr. Cricket' in Griffith. He is Griffith's version of Mike Soucy. They practise on Saturday mornings from 9:00-10:00 am. **Update** Khye played one game for Colt's team when they were short of players and then Khye's coach, Roy, assigned him to a Jr. Bradmen team that is also short of players! Most of the players are Yr 1-4. Khye is going well. He knew no boys on the team when he started but is now making friends. He has trouble bowling the length of the cricket pitch but he did earn 8 runs this past weekend! In two weeks time, Khye's team will play against Colt's team!
Colt didn't want to play cricket this year because he didn't think his bowling (pitching) was good enough. We signed him up anyway and he was upset about this until he learned that Jamie Bennett would be his coach. Colt is again playing Jr. Bradmen. They play games on Saturday mornings from 9:00-11:00 am. **Update** Colt continues to love cricket especially bowling...go figure! His team is currently undefeated but come up against the hardest team (also undefeated) next weekend!

Kent
Kent is again playing Sr. Bradmen. Their games are also Saturday mornings from 8:45am-12:00pm. He gets to play with Dean, Jesse and many other friends. **Update** Kent has been batting very well these past few weeks. Last weekend he retired with 35 runs after only 6 overs and this weekend he retired with 38 runs (although the field was set up to advantage the left handed batter....lucky Bubby!) **Update** Kent's last game was December 15. We missed his first at bat because we were with Colt and Khye. It was a very wet day. Near the end of the game, both teams let Kent go back in for the last overs because it was his last game. Kent had scored 32 runs during his first at bat and was trying to reach a half-century before the overs ran out. It was very tense as he and his batting partner worked their strategies trying to get Kent the runs. When the game ended, Kent had earned 52 runs! Not bad for a rookie from Canada!

Cody and Kent
Cody is also playing 'Milliken Shield' cricket. They are a rep team that practices on Fridays but only play every three weeks or so. Can you tell he loves the sport?! **Update** The first Milliken Shield game had the Griffith Red and Blue teams playing each other. The red team was short of players so picked up a couple of brothers including Kent. While batting, Kent faced the blue team's hardest bowlers and he was nervous. That is, until Cody came up to bowl...then Kent was grinning and immediately hit a 4 off Cody's 1st bowl! The crowd went wild! Justice was served later in the game when Cody bowled and got Kent out. That ended the red team's batting and brought on a roar from the blue team! This past weekend (Nov. 25), Cody's team won in Leeton but he was bowled out with only 1 run. Kent again played for the red team, this time in Narrandera. They lost (by 1 run?!?) and Kent had the highest runs with 19! (If anyone's keeping track....that makes 7 cricket teams and 3 touch football teams! Sounds more like home, eh?!)
